About Me

IMG_1810

Hello friends,

Thanks for visiting my new website! For as long as I can remember, friends and family members have told me that I should have my own protective bubble to keep me safe from the world- So I have decided to create one myself. Welcome to my bubble! It is here where I will continue to share my journey and thoughts on what it is like to live a day in the life of Brynn.

Those of you that don’t already know me may be wondering, “Why the bubble?” I have been sick and have had bizarre medical problems for the better part of my teenage years. After seven years of searching for answers, I was diagnosed with Mast Cell Disease and POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome) in 2012. To explain the illnesses in the most basic way possible- Mast Cell Disease causes me to be allergic to just about everything. I have so many severe food allergies that I rely on a feeding tube to provide me with proper nutrition. I am currently one of very few people who are on a 24/7 IV Benadryl pump! POTS is an autonomic dysfunction that causes my blood pressure to drop and heart rate to skyrocket upon change in position. To put it in simpler terms, POTS causes me to pass out if I stand for more than a few minutes at a time. I rely on a wheelchair to help me get around so that I am not constantly having to stop what I’m doing to find a place to sit when I start getting lightheaded and dizzy. When I developed the two illnesses, my friends would always joke that I needed to either live in a bubble or cover myself in bubble wrap before ever leaving my house!

Please bear with me as we continue to build the site. Very exciting things are in the works and I can’t wait to share it with everyone!

  3. Hey, Brynn – just wanted to send best wishes from my end as well. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences. I don’t want to say they’re an inspiration, because that, to me, sounds as though I’m building up my self-esteem through your misfortune – and I don’t want to sound condescending by telling you how brave you are, either – but I think you’re awesome in how you deal with what you’re going through. I sincerely hope you find a way to improve your condition as soon as possible. As a future physician (first year of med school almost over) perhaps, in due time, I’ll be able to offer something more than just hope – but until then, thank you again, and keep rockin’.

  4. Hey I really respect your positive attitude and I know what’s its like having allergies and difficult diseases. I hope you are trying many approaches to beat this thing. I recently found that vitamins solved my latest strange symptoms at least for now. Our bodies are mysteries and anything can happen. We just have to keep our head up and keep moving forward!

    Best wishes and keep posting!

  5. Brynn, your story inspires me to keep pushing through these strange illnesses and (seemingly) never-ending symptoms I am experiencing. I admire your brave attitude and sincere desire to speak publicly about mast cell disease. You are a hero to many people in the world, including to me.

  6. You are so inspiring to me! I have POTS and dysautnomia and live in a perpetual state of lightheadedness/ dizziness. Have been praying for you and will continue to do so. Sending a warm hug your way!

  7. Brynn,
I am so inspired by your courage. I am 62, and after many years of going from one doctor to another to find out what was wrong with me, I had genetic testing six weeks ago and i was diagnosed with Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy. There is a 50% chance that I passed it on to my only child, who was recently married. Thank you for your bravery and optimism in the face of your disease. I hope that eventually, I will have that.

  8. Hi Byrnn! You are strong and really a happy go lucky girl! Even though all these has happened to you, you still stayed strong and never gave up. You inspire me and I am learning to live happy and carefree without worrying too much about trivial things. I a past, I have problems but they are not as serious as yours. Maybe my problems might have caused me anxiety disorders, panic attacks or even depression but you are AWESOME! Your bravery and optimism in life inspires me to face my problems bravely. I hope that I can be as happy go lucky as you.

  9. You inspire me. You make me believe in myself and stand up when I fall, when I hit rock bottom. Maybe my problems could have caused anxiety disorders, panic attacks and depression, but because I learned about you, your bravery and optimism, I tried to be optimistic about my problems. I have a past. But I’m learning to leave in the present and cherish all that I have. So, STAY STRONG AND HAPPY! Thank you.
